Welcome to my Review of Haunted Laird by Tara Nina

Book four in the
Cursed MacKinnons series.

Lynn’s ghost-hunting trip
in Scotland takes an unpleasant turn when she’s kidnapped from her camp by a
group of men rambling about curses and a brotherhood. In a daring escape, Lynn
falls over a cliff and awakens in a cave being guarded by a ghost, who insists
she’s the key to freeing a man who has been cast in stone by an evil curse. And
what a man he is…

Padon has been imprisoned
for over two centuries, frozen in stone. He is awoken when a sexy siren recites
the anti-curse, but he is only partially free. Stone by day, man by night.
Passion ignites between him and his savior immediately, which makes falling to
the curse each morning that much harder. He and Lynn seek a resolution by
making the trek to Padon’s family castle. But the kidnappers have other plans
and will do whatever they must to make sure this couple never makes it to their destination.
My Review
I started this series with this book which is the fourth in the series. I loved it so much I am going to start over from the first book.

I adore then entire plot of all the brother's having been turned to stone and each must be released be their perfect love match or soul mate. Time travel, smexy men in kilts, a perfect love match, and a baddy trying to foil it all. Everything I need in a favorite book series.

"Spirals" Ruby Standing Deer Review

A Holy Man, who lives in both this world and the Spirit world, waits hidden in a cave in the canyons, as a newly made woman runs toward him. She flees her would-be suitor, who wants from her more than she can give.
The Holy Man and his constant companions, a colony of mice, accept the woman within the cave. She worries that he may be crazy, but given her fear of the man who desires her, maybe crazy is not so bad.
In this sequel to Ruby Standing Deer’s first novel, Circles, the main character of Shining Light is now grown and with family. He dreams of the woman and the Holy Man in the canyons, and knows that, after four seasons of calm and peace in the Forest of Trees, he must go to them.
He seeks guidance, but the Spirits tell him only that he must rescue these two people. Yet he need not go alone. Ever Shining Light’s faithful companion and Wolf Brother, White Paws senses he must follow his Human Brother. Thus, one Human, one Wolf, and their two families set out for the unknown.
The adventure exceeds all of Shining Light’s expectations, and he learns more about his place in this world than the Holy Peoples of his band could ever teach him.

MY REVIEW :

BIO:
Author of Circles, Spirals and Courage Through Fear, a short story in a book called Evolution Book 1 Put out by my publishing Company, Evolved Publishing.
Life is a wondrous mystery that I still explore. I spent my youth "feeling" my way thought it. I traveled throughout the seventies, standing on one highway ramp or another, exploring the many corridors of our country, learning about life and what it had to offer.
In 1979, deep in winter, I settled down. I was lucky enough to become the first woman journeyman pressman of a major newspaper in Colorado. After ten years of working on printing presses, an injury forced me down another path.
I made and sold jewelry, cared (still do) for abandoned animals, volunteered for a horse rescue as well as a no kill shelter. I went to school for so many different careers that ended up combining my credits to get a degree in horticulture. Unfortunately, or so I thought back then, two car accidents during my last semester, my last class, prevented my pursuing it as a living.
I had no idea what my future held, but I was fortunate; my caring and understanding husband allowed me to explore other paths and I found one I knew I belong on--writing.
Back then, I had no idea "someone" was pushing me to become a writer.
I had taken creative writing classes off and on throughout my college years, because I always felt the need to write. Nothing came of it, except satisfying my own desires, until that special dream guided me to write my novel, Circles.
I joined a couple writing groups to improve my skills. I met David Lane (aka Lane Diamond), my editor, in a group. He taught me to keep going, not to get discouraged, to write and never give up. He stuck with me and gave me the confidence I needed in myself, to let go of doubt, to move forward.
My animals taught me about myself through their own lives. They showed me that I had the patience to push onward toward my destiny, that to give up meant the end. They helped me learn that if I willed myself to wade through all the murky waters, eventuality, I would see clearly enough to move forward.
I am currently working on Stones, the third in this series and a book of short stories of the paranormal that will have something for everyone even if you are not sure you believe. I might just change your mind!
My mixed bloodlines have shown me many things in life that I am truly grateful for. Thank you, Great Mystery, for the dreams, for the guidance, for the whispers in my mind.

Forgive Me , Alex review

Welcome to my review of Forgive Me, Alex by Lane Diamond. First I have the description of this book.

Blurb:
Tony Hooper stands in shadow across the street, one amongst many in the crowd of curiosity-hounds gathered to watch a monster's release. Seventeen years after Mitchell Norton, the devil, terrorized Algonquin, Illinois on a spree of kidnapping, torture and murder, the authorities release the butcher from psychiatric prison.

Tony longs to charge across the street to destroy Norton--no remorse--as if stepping on a cockroach. Only sheer force of will prevents his doing so.

The devil walks the world again. What shall Tony do about it? Aye, what indeed.

After all, this is what Tony does. It's who he is. The devil himself long ago made Tony into this hunter of monsters. What a sweet twist of fate this is, that he may still, finally, administer justice.

Will FBI Special Agent Linda Monroe stop him? She owes him her life, so how can she possibly put an end to his?

Tony Hooper and Mitchell Norton battle for supremacy, with law enforcement always a step away, in this story of justice and vengeance, evil and redemption, fear and courage, love and loss.

Review:

I was enthralled from page one. The moving from one time line to another was done very well.

Lane writes with such gracious prose, he made presenting two points of view was effortless. He keeps you so involved in the story that it is like you're watching it all first hand and a sideline participant. You want to jump in and help the characters in the story!

If you like psycho thrillers this book is for you! Give it a read!! Worth it!!

BIO:
I write fiction, long and short. My writings cross over many genres and focus on diverse subjects, ranging from the mysteries of the human mind, with its fragile psychological and emotional states, to the everyday joy and anguish of life on Earth.

I've been an avid reader my entire life, and started writing at the age of 12. I love a good story, of course, a compelling plot and satisfying conclusion. Yet as a reader, I've always been drawn to great characters. The characters bring me back to an author time and time again. This shows in my writing, where I attempt to create authentic, complex, real characters you can come to love, and in whose company you feel at home. Or maybe you'll despise a character and want to stick a fork in his eye. Hey, bad guys are fun too!

I did my tour in the real world, serving in the U.S. Air Force, then working as everything from a forklift operator to a bartender in my youth, before settling in as Business Services and Project Manager for a large manufacturing and distribution concern. Now, at long last (Man! Why did I wait so long?), I'm putting pedal to the metal in pursuit of the author's life.

After many years as a Freelance Editor, with several clients published or aspiring to be so, I co-founded Evolved Publishing, where I wear hats as Publisher, Executive Editor, and Author. As an author, I started with a few short stories, and released my debut novel, a psychological thriller called "Forgive Me, Alex," in December 2011. The sequel, "The Devil's Bane," is under way and due Spring 2013.

Welcome to my Review of "Secret Storm" by Amelia James

Book BLURB: “I want to let you in, Jack, but I…. Oh hell, I just want you. I know you’re not what I need, but I don’t care. Take me to bed now and we’ll sort the rest out later.”

The last thing Sara Jensen needs is another risky relationship. She wants Jack, but she’s been hurt too many times to trust him even though he’s more than a friend. Jack won’t trust her, and that hurts more than her ex’s betrayal.

Jack Wheeler wants Sara. His long denied lust burns barely contained. But a dangerous secret comes back to haunt him, a secret so horrible he can’t trust anyone with it, not even the woman he desires more than anything.

For the first time since they met, they’re both available, but the timing couldn't be worse. Sara’s not too eager to trust a man again, and Jack refuses to reveal his secret. Getting involved now is complicated, but Sara and Jack have waited long enough. Neither one of them can control their desires. But there’s a storm approaching, and as hard as she tries, Sara can’t run away from Jack’s past. Jack won’t accept her help, and Sara doesn't know how long she can wait for him to realize he needs her.

MY REVIEW:
Have you ever had the situation where you have the hots for a man and him for you but one of you is always in a relationship with someone else and your timing just sucks?  You have? Then you will totally relate to Sara and Jack and their story will renew your hope that these situations can work themselves out in a very “satisfying way”.  Amelia really knows how to write a smoking hot love scene *squirming in my seat and fanning myself.* I find myself considering the coffee table.

This book will take you on a roller coaster ride of missed chances and a secret that causes huge problems! This is everything you want in an erotic novel, an alpha male, a strong heroine, and smexy hot sex scenes.

BIO: Amelia James started reading steamy romance novels in junior high, but her mom took them away from her, so she started daydreaming instead. After she got married, she wrote some of her naughtier daydreams down and sent them to Playgirl magazine. Two of them got published.  She kept daydreaming and writing stories until her dirty stories turned into trashy books.

She lives in Colorado, but she’ll always be a loyal Wisconsin Cheesehead. When she’s not lusting after her next bad boy hero, she looks for inspiration in sci-fi and action movies, football players, bloodsucking lawyers, muscle cars, and kick-butt chicks.

EXCERPT of "Rob Seablue and the Eye of Tantalus"

Welcome to my tour stop of Russell Hasan's "Rob Seablue and the Eye of Tantalus"
A magical curse has been unleashed and Connecticut teen Sorcerer Rob Seablue’s best friend has been seduced by evil magic. To save his best friend—and to save the world from his best friend—Rob will fight magical duels, decipher an ancient riddle, and help sad, depressed teenagers to be happy and self-confident so that the curse can’t destroy them. And he will wage a war against the evil magic all while seeing heavy metal rock shows, going on dates with his girlfriend, doing his homework, and avoiding getting grounded by his father for staying out late! A unique novel at the cutting edge intersection of teen urban fantasy and libertarian/objectivist fiction, this novel can be described as “Atlas Shrugged” meets “Harry Potter.”
Professional review:
"What more could a libertarian novel reader want? . . . The book is ingenious throughout and most ingenious at its end -- ingenious, I might add, without losing plausibility. Actually, the story continually becomes more plausible, as well as more exciting." - Stephen Cox, Editor, Liberty Magazine

EXCERPT

I understand Hugs’s plan now. I see what he’s doing. His plan is to go after the kids who are weak, the ones who suffer, the ones who are outcasts, losers, loners, the ones who are depressed, lonely, uncool, the ones we all laugh at. The kind of teenager who thinks about suicide, the kind that is common, even though we’re trained to believe that people like that are rare, even though they don’t show up among all the pretty, shiny, plastic-wrapped posers. He thinks they are all like him, full of sadness simmering into a desire for revenge, revenge against society, against normalcy, against what people hold holy and sacred, revenge against everything and everyone. He thinks those are the ones most likely to give in, to give up, to let their sadness turn to anger and then to hatred, making them into his pawns. Then, with them at his side, he’ll have his gang, he’ll be the bully, he’ll rule the school… and the world. But he’s counting on me not doing anything. And he’s wrong. I’m not going to let him win. I’m not going to let him and his crazy Eye of Tantalus get one person, no, not even one. And you know why I’ll beat him? Because the kids in my school are good. We’re good kids. Not that we always obey the rules, or get everything right, not that we don’t stumble and fall every once in a while. Not that we don’t try too hard sometimes, or not try hard enough other times. Not that there aren’t some bad seeds. But by and large, we’re just trying to do what’s right, as difficult and confusing as it is to even know what right is. We’re just living our lives, that’s all, and just trying to manage and cope and to be happy. These are my classmates, my friends, my fellow human beings. And they’re innocent. They’ve done nothing to deserve Hugs attacking them, trying to corrupt them and destroy them. Nothing. So I’ll be their guardian angel. I’ll be their superhero. I’ll be that someone, that something, invisible, but there, something they can feel, someone they can rely on. I’ll save them, I’ll rescue them—by showing them that their legs are strong enough for them to stand on and that they don’t need me or him or anyone else to save them. I won’t let Hugs get to them. I won’t let him get to even one of them, not one! Each one of us is just trying to live his or her life, be a good person, and get some satisfaction—and I’ll protect that, I’ll protect them. I’ll prove that being human isn’t weak and stupid, like Hugs thinks, but that humans are good and noble, and that we can be happy, and that we’re not hopeless pathetic little nothings. I’ll prove it to him and then he’ll see, and then I’ll get Hugs back too. The evil magic won’t win. I’ll find a spell capable of defeating and destroying the Eye of Tantalus. And then, with my best friend at my side, I’ll be happy again. If I can. If I’m not too late. If I’m really even strong enough to do this. If I really am a hero. If humans really are good, if we really aren’t ugly nasty horrible things like Hugs believes. And if Hugs doesn’t get to me first….

T.G. Ayer "Dead Radiance"

"That day I knew for sure. I'd lost control of my tears then. They fell in huge, mocking drops. I stared at Joshua through those bitter tears, my heart missing beats as I tried to remember to breathe. I finally knew what the glow meant. I was a freak and Joshua was going to die." Bryn Halbrook had always seen the glow. But it is only when her best friend dies that she discovers the meaning of those beautiful golden auras - Death. Alone, lost in the foster system, she struggles to understand who she is and why she was cursed with the ability to see the soon-to-be-dead. The new foster kid, Aidan, isn't helping any. Mr. Perfect seems to fit in no matter what, making her feel even more pathetic. But when his affections turn to her, Bryn finds him hard to resist. Impossible actually. A mystery himself, Aidan disappears, leaving behind a broken heart and a mysterious book that suggests Bryn might not be entirely human. Bryn stands at the threshold of a journey of discovery. Will destiny help her find herself, find her purpose and her place in a world in which she'd never belonged?

BIO:  I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognize that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practice given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes… I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It’s a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each other's loves – it works wonderfully…
My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands – I shall forever remain cross-eyed.

Survivor Roundup Review

Red always knew she would have to face the man who nearly destroyed her. She just didn’t figure it would happen so soon . . .

With the plague sweeping across the nation, destroying many and turning others into walking corpses, survivors head West in search of a chosen land, a place designed to keep the infected out, while sealing survivors inside. In theory, the idea seems the only way to keep humanity alive. In practice, it doesn’t matter whether a person is on the inside or the out—there is no humanity.

. . . And even though John Gatherum hunted her down and instigated their reunion, Red’s no longer the passive girl he once manipulated. This time, she has a hidden agenda of her own.

Kill him. Save her family. Save herself.

BIO:

Angela Scott hears voices. Tiny fictional people sit on her shoulders and whisper their stories in her ear. Instead of medicating herself, she decided to pick up a pen, write down everything those voices tell me, and turn it into a book. She's not crazy. She's an author. For the most part, she writes contemporary Young Adult novels. However, through a writing exercise that spiraled out of control, she found herself writing about zombies terrorizing the Wild Wild West--and loving it. Her zombies don't sparkle, and they definitely don't cuddle. At least, she wouldn't suggest it. She lives on the benches of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains with two lovely children, one teenager, and a very patient husband. She graduated from Utah State University with a B.A. degree in English, not because of her love for the written word, but because it was the only major that didn't require math. She can't spell, and grammar is her arch nemesis. But they gave her the degree, and there are no take backs.

My Review:

In book 1 "Wanted: Dead or Undead" we meet the key characters and learn what the world of the wild west over
run with zombies would be like. Not a pretty site and more challenging to survive than you would imagine.

In Survivor Roundup not only are Red and Trace dealing with the undead but now they have a crazed doctor
rounding people up and trying to make a cure, yikes!!!!

I loved that in this addition we get the native americans involved and they play a prominate roll which I really can't
discuss without giving secrets away.  I can say that Aponi and Kitchi are amazing and I love these new characters.

I can not get the third book fast enough!!!</div>

Welcome to Character spot lights of "The Darkening Dream" by Andy Gavin

The Darkening Dream is the chilling new dark fantasy novel by Andy Gavin, creator of Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter.
Even as the modern world pushes the supernatural aside in favor of science and steel, the old ways remain. God, demon, monster, and sorcerer alike plot to regain what was theirs.
1913, Salem, Massachusetts - Sarah Engelmann's life is full of friends, books, and avoiding the pressure to choose a husband, until an ominous vision and the haunting call of an otherworldly trumpet shake her. When she stumbles across a gruesome corpse, she fears that her vision was more of a premonition. And when she sees the murdered boy moving through the crowd at an amusement park, Sarah is thrust into a dark battle she does not understand.
With the help of Alex, a Greek immigrant who knows a startling amount about the undead, Sarah sets out to uncover the truth. Their quest takes them to the factory mills of Salem, on a midnight boat ride to spy on an eerie coastal lair, and back, unexpectedly, to their own homes. What can Alex's elderly, vampire-hunting grandfather and Sarah's own rabbi father tell them? And what do Sarah's continuing visions reveal?
No less than Gabriel's Trumpet, the tool that will announce the End of Days, is at stake, and the forces that have banded to recover it include a 900 year-old vampire, a trio of disgruntled Egyptian gods, and a demon-loving Puritan minister. At the center of this swirling cast is Sarah, who must fight a millennia-old battle against unspeakable forces, knowing the ultimate prize might be herself.

Alex Palaogos: The exotic newcomer

Alex's life right now is boring, and he knows it. Sure the move to America was exciting: the train ride across Europe followed by the luxurious ten-day party that was the steamer crossing. But after unpacking last May, he settled into a monotonous regimen. He reads, wanders around the yard, rides his horse Bucephalus, or plays chess with tight-lipped Dmitri. In the evening or early morning Grandfather is more likely to be awake, but even when they do talk, the old man is usually distant and distracted. So when he meets Sarah and her friends, the opportunity to talk to people who aren't servants or wheelchair-bound octogenarians is just too good to pass up. Besides, she's a girl, and a smart and beautiful one at that. Hell, if he was bound to a post and forced merely to watch her, he'd count the day well spent. Then they find the body - and common as ordinary evil is, Alex knows better. Grandfather does to. It has to be one of them. One of those things. New world or not, wherever you go things stay the same. The old man insists Alex stay out of it. But standing on the sidelines is no way to impress a girl.

  Sarah Englemann: Our Protagonist

Sarah thinks of herself as a normal seventeen year-old. Well that's not exactly true, she's pretty sure she's exceptional, but only when it comes to school and books. The rest of it: fitting in, boys, that doesn't come as easy. And she certainly doesn't believe corpses can leave their graves and try to kill you! But the undead can be convincing. Not to mention that she keeps having these horrible visions. The bookish thing, that she gets from her father. And he isn't exactly Joe cool either, even if he is named Joseph. But things are clearer for him. He doesn't have to fit in, he's got his Rabbi cronies from the old world to hang with. But this is 1913, and Sarah's a modern woman. No way she's going to put up with corsets, no vote, and popping out a big brood. Again, none of this takes into account what happens when something really old takes an interest in her. A sorcerer who was ancient when Sarah's people crossed out of Egypt has turned his evil eye her way. And Papa Joseph has his secrets too. Turns out the family wasn't the only thing he brought to Massachusetts from Europe. But he's sure all that is ancient history. However the dead have all the time in the world. The vampire Nasir has been sent to sniff around. And he loves a good hunt. To further complicate things, this is finally the year when Sarah meets that boy.

Welcome to my Review of Just Chemistry by Vera Jax

Logan is powerfully attracted to the woman standing before him in the elevator. Minutes later he discovers that they have at least one thing in common: both work for Blue Dreams Marketing—he in the LA office and she in the Houston branch. And he is Sam’s superior.

Sam is equally attracted to Logan. Not one to let opportunities slip by, she gets him to share a “lunch” where each is the main course. But Sam has worked too hard to jeopardize a career she loves for the sake of sexual chemistry. Everyone knows that sleeping with—let alone dating—a superior is bad business. Worse still is the fact that Logan is being considered for a promotion that may put Sam’s job on the line.

Sam breaks it off with Logan. But he won’t let her go, even after being presented with evidence that Sam is involved in another office affair. In the end corporate intrigue forces Sam and Logan to band together for the sake of their careers. Logan is determined to remain at Sam’s side, but will she let him?

My Review

Logan is so HOT!  Not only is he gorgeous but he is very attentive and protective of Sam, something I find irresistible. Take all that out of the board room and dress it up like a cowboy and YOWZA!!!!

Sam is my perfect heroine, she is smart, sexy and knows what she wants in bed and isn’t afraid to tell her man what that is.  She can give direction just as well as she can take it.

Take these two awesome characters and add in an interoffice romance, coworkers climbing over each other to get to the top and a pervert pig of a boss and you have a best seller.
