I would like to welcome Caris Roane to Kindle Fever  today!  Caris is one of my all time favorite authors and a wonderful lady. Her Ascension Series is one of my all time favorites and like all of my favorite series she can not write them fast enough :)

BIO 

       I was ten when I first
watched an old movie version of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and loved it!
Movies led to books, which led to writing and after a good long
while, publishing. I wrote sweet Regency romance for Kensington for
19 years and recently fell in love with paranormal, although I’ve
always had a thing for vampires. I currently write paranormal
romance for St. Martin’s Press but I self-publish as well.
Building an online platform has been an enormous but rewarding
challenge. I think all the changes in publishing will alter how
authors approach the business going forward and I for one am thrilled
to have so many options.

Caris
Roane has published over fifty Regency romance novels and novellas
under the pen name, Valerie King. In 2005, Romantic Times gave her a
Career Achievement award in Regency Romance. Having had a long-time
love affair with vampires, Caris tackled the paranormal genre and
built a unique vampire world based on ascending dimensional earths.
Her series is called Guardians of
Ascension.

Her
most recent self-published project, The
Blood Rose Novella Series, launched
in May of 2012 with the first title: Embrace
the Dark.

Currently,
Caris is working on a new vampire series set to launch in the Fall of
2013: WARRIORS IN CHAINS with
the first novel, BORN IN CHAINS.

Caris
lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with her two cats, Sebastien and Gizzy.

 Hi, everyone!  I want to thank Kindle Fever for having me today as part of my WARM-UP-YOUR-WINTER BLOG TOUR.  On most of the blogs on this tour, I’ll be revealing excerpts from the sixth book in my vampire series called, GATES OF RAPTURE (12/24).  I created the tour with the hope that you might get to know my Guardians of Ascension, who are my most beloved winged vampire warriors.  I know the covers have wings on them, but the books aren’t about angels AT ALL…just vampires…with wings.  I also have goodies for you to win, details to follow!

GATES OF RAPTURE  The following excerpt from GATES OF RAPTURE shows Grace having discovered her ability to acquire just about any power under the sun.  Her role as a member of the powerful obsidian flame triad has just solidified.  A tender scene ensues in which she shares this news with her warrior vampire, Leto…

MY REVIEW:

Just last night I loaded "Brink of Eternity" onto my Kindle and I can hardly wait for more Leather Kilts, Super sexy winged warriors, bad guys, and breh’s! Make sure you all keep coming back because we will have Caris and her tales all year!

Like I said before, I read all of Caris's books and this one did not disappoint. There is tons of action and the Obsidian Flame finally gets to flex their wings (pun intended).

There are even a couple of scenes where we get to see Endelle's softer side. And we also get to find out what the bite on the back of her neck really means.

The Redemption pools are both amazing and VERY Scary to think about. I would be terrified to dip my toes in there.... EEKK!

Again I must say Caris and her series is Total badasserie !!

EXCERPT FROM CHAPTER 9:

Grace realized she had taken the first step toward forging the obsidian flame triad.  For just a moment, she wondered if she should go forward.  She felt as though she had come to a crossroads and that she could still retreat if she wanted to.  She could return to a former life and ease back into her more spiritual pursuits.

But even as the thought went through her mind, she knew she couldn’t.  In the same way that she was the sort of person who could commit happily to life in a convent for a hundred years, she knew she wouldn’t go back.  She had made her decision while on Fourth Earth to embrace her calling as obsidian flame and so she would.

She mentally contacted Fiona and Marguerite and arranged to meet them in half an hour at the Militia HQ workout room.  With the arrangements made, Grace walked Alison to the landing platform.  She was headed to Endelle’s office and would let Endelle know the results of her time with Grace. 

After Alison left, Grace hunted Leto down to tell him her news.  She found him in a quiet corner of one of the lesser used rotundas.  He had James’s papers on his lap and his phone in hand.  “How’s it going?” she asked.

He looked up at her and smiled.  “Incredible. It didn’t even occur to me how things would be for my warriors when I left.”

For his warriors.  Grace loved the sound of that. 

He leaned forward slightly and took her fingers in a light clasp.  “How’s it going with Alison?”

“I think we’re done.”

“You’re done?  So soon?”

She nodded then told him what had happened.  Leto’s brows rose.  “You can acquire any ability?”

“That’s what it feels like to me.”  

“Huh.  Like the ability to fold masses of people?”

This time her brows rose.  “You mean like warriors?”

He nodded slowly.

“Oh.  Well.”  She squeezed his fingers.  “Looks like I have some work to do with obsidian flame.”  She told him where she was headed.  “You can let Thorne know what’s going on as well.  I know he has a role in obsidian flame so we might need him, I’m just not sure.”  She glanced behind her. 

“I will.”

“Walk me to the landing platform?”

He rose so fast from his chair that she took a step back and laughed.  He put his arm around her and squeezed then put them both in motion.  She felt very young right now, like she was just a girl with her boyfriend and he was walking her to class.  It was a nice feeling and in this moment, not far from the truth.

Her class, however, involved obsidian flame.

Once near the platform, Leto kissed her and she let the kiss linger.

I don’t want to let you go, he sent, his lips hovering just over hers.

I don’t want to leave.

The kiss deepened until she was swaying.  Finally, she had to push him away. 

He drew back and smiled ruefully.  She always forgot how beautiful his eyes were until she was this close.  They were the color of clear blue water.  She gave him another quick kiss and because she had the feeling if she didn’t just take off, she’d stay for another hour with her hands fondling his biceps, she ran up the landing platform ramp.

He waited where she had left him, smiling and looking better than ever, more relaxed, more at ease. 

She waved as she dematerialized and was still waving when she arrived at Militia Warrior HQ.
